About me

I am a language teacher with more than 20 years of experience in teaching adults, students and children in Turkey and the UK and currently working as a teaching assistant helping children with learning English in Liverpool, I also independently research topics related to ESP and ESL.

I started teaching English in a task-focused environment at an iron and steel works in Turkey.  My role was to teach adults with only rudimentary language skills Technical, Business and general English. I organised courses for the staff who worked in industrial company.  I also attended numerous seminars and conferences to exchange ideas in teaching a foreign language.

My later experience in Turkey was as the head of English language Department in a prestigious private school, teaching children from the ages of eight to eighteen.   I organised seminars for colleagues in other schools and prepared teaching materials for ELT branches in conjunction with Oxford University Press.

I present regularly on topics related to CLIL and learning English through task-based approach.  In the last two years I have presented ‘Assessment in CLIL’ in an international conference at the University of Vic in Catalonia and ‘Developing Communicative Competence through Task-based approach’ at the University of Nis in Serbia.

I am quite interested in ESP, EAL, Bilingualism and sociolinguistics.
